Overview

A refuge for the overworked, drawn from river rejuvenation.

Rejuvenation is a short-stay capsule hotel on Wuhan's historic Hanzheng Street — once the lifeblood of the city's early commerce, on the banks of the Yangtze. It is designed for overworked office workers and transient travelers who need to rest the mind, not just the body.

The concept borrows from geology: as a river erodes the earth, it is said to rejuvenate the land, revealing clear new landforms. Those organic forms shape the circulation and interior volumes, while private spaces are separated from the noise of the elevator core and natural light is drawn into the public rooms and guest rooms.

Inside the capsules, a Danshari, less-is-more sensibility strips the rooms to natural materials and honest light — minimal decoration that invites guests to switch off their technology and their minds. Awarded Bronze at the 2023 IDA Design Awards (Hospitality / Hotel).
